Prof. Dr. Adrienne Grêt-Regamey

Adrienne Grêt-Regamey is an environmental scientist and landscape planner. Since 2008, she has been Professor at the Chair of Planning Landscape and Urban Systems at the Institute for Spatial and Landscape Development, ETH Zurich. Currently, her research focuses on understanding how the interactions of humans with their environments shape landscapes and vice versa. Her work integrates quantitative participatory land-use decision modeling as well as qualitative research on human decision-making behavior in her Landscape Virtualization and Modeling Lab, where state-of-the-art 3D visualizations and auralizations of landscape changes are generated and decision support tools are developed. She has received multiple awards, including an ERC grant, and is a member of various international scientific boards and Swiss institutional committees.

She studied environmental sciences at ETH in Zurich. In 1999, she moved to the US to work as a consultant for an environmental consulting firm located in Washington, D.C. and Boulder, Colorado, conducting Natural Resource Damage Assessments. In 2003, she was awarded a Marie-Heim Vögtlin grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) to conduct her doctoral thesis at the US National Center of Atmospheric Research in the Environmental and Societal Impact Group, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the same institute. In 2006, she was offered a position as a research officer at the Swiss Federal Office for Environment and returned to ETH Zurich in 2007 as a senior researcher, where she was offered a professorship in 2007.

Adrienne Grêt-Regamey has been a member of the Swiss Science Council since 2024.
