Prof. Laurent Sciboz

Laurent Sciboz is a professor at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland HES-SO where he heads the Institute for Information Technology HES-SO // Valais. It has over 90 researchers active in the field of the digital transformation of the economy, and conducts around a hundred applied research projects a year. The institute has three research units: Advanced Data Engineering, the Digital Experience, eHealth.

His areas of expertise are information systems management, digital innovation and software engineering. He has been an expert and reviewer for 10 years with the European Commission for Framework Programmes. He is also director of the Icare Research Institute in Sierre, specialising in the Internet of Things and has created two competence centres: the Radio Frequency ID Centre in 2004, and the eEnergy Centre in 2014.

Since 2015 he has been a member of the HES-SO Research Council and is a member of several juries to evaluate digital innovation projects on the part of Swiss spin-off and start-up firms.

Laurent Sciboz has been a member of the Swiss Science Council since 2020.
